NOTE: This event has been postponed. Further details will be provided in due course.
As part of developing the Long Leys Neighbourhood Plan, LLRA is holding a series of workshops to explore different topics at Discovery Café, St. Georges Hospital. Workshops are facilitated by Steve Kemp from Open Plan (planning consultants). The next workshop is
- Community Energy: Wednesday 23 October 6.00 – 7.30 pm
Focus areas will include:
- Exploring the potential for renewable energy and battery storage projects in areas of the city, including utilising city council-owned land *.
- Exploring the feasibility of setting up “Lincoln Community Energy Company”, a non-profit company delivering energy related benefits to communities in Lincoln*.
- Exploring how “Lincoln Community Energy Company” could help decarbonise homes and businesses in Lincoln by reducing the costs for installing renewable energy and energy saving measures*.
If you have an interest in this topic and wish to contribute to the effort on it, then please book a place by emailing your contact details to: planning@long-leys.org. This will allow us to send advance information out before the day and to ensure that there is sufficient space to accommodate all participants. All residents are welcome. Please let us know by 2.00 pm on Wednesday 23 October if you are attending the Community Energy workshop so we can organise accordingly.
The workshops are intended to:
- Provide a strengthened evidence base for the plan;
- Get a better feel for community views and aspirations for each topic and the plan as a whole;
- Assist in developing a shared vision, a set of core objectives and a set of policy topics and intentions.
Future workshops
- Facilities: Wednesday 13 November
- Future Housing: Wednesday 27 November
Note *: A related Community Energy project has been grant funded by Midland Net Zero Hub and is a feasibility study exploring the potential for Community Energy in two distinctive areas of Lincoln (Long Leys and Sincil Bank). See initial project brief. The work is being done in partnership with the Climate Change team at City of Lincoln Council, Sincil Community Land Trust and LLRA. Subject to satisfactory progress then more detailed design work could be undertaken and the project expanded to other communities in Lincoln. Savi Energy is the consultancy leading this feasibility work and will be present at the Workshop, hopefully to share its initial thoughts and get feedback.
LLRA’s thanks go to St. George’s Hospital for allowing the use of their facilities.
