Part 1: Statement of intent
Our health and safety policy is to:
- Manage health & safety risks at LLRA organised events
- Ensure personal protective equipment is available where it is needed at LLRA organised events
- Ensure safe handling of LLRA owned equipment
- Review and revise this policy annually. Next review November 2025.
Part 2: Responsibilities for health and safety
The lead organiser for an event has overall and final responsibility for health and safety. This includes:
- A written risk assessment will be carried out prior to each organised event, with a copy passed to the LLRA Secretary as a formal record
- Ensuring an appropriate safety briefing is given to event participants
- Ensuring any required equipment is available to event participants
- Ensuring a written record of any health & safety incidents or near-misses is passed to the LLRA Secretary
Part 3: Arrangements for health and safety
Risk Assessments
- We will complete relevant risks assessments and take action
- We will review risk assessments when repeat event conditions change
- A summary of risk assessments will be reviewed at each LLRA Management committee meeting
Training
- For activities such as moving and changing the batteries on SID (Speed Indicator Device) we will provide a written user guide and practice for each new volunteer.
