LLRA Health & Safety Policy

AGREED BY LLRA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE 12 September 2019

Part 1: Statement of intent

Our health and safety policy is to:

  • Manage health & safety risks at LLRA organised events
  • Ensure personal protective equipment is available where it is needed at LLRA organised events
  • Ensure safe handling of LLRA owned equipment
  • Review and revise this policy annually. Next review September 2020.

Part 2: Responsibilities for health and safety

The lead organiser for an event has overall and final responsibility for health and safety. This includes:

  • A written risk assessment will be carried out prior to each organised event, with a copy passed to the LLRA Secretary as a formal record
  • Ensuring an appropriate safety briefing is given to event participants
  • Ensuring any required equipment is available to event participants
  • Ensuring a written record of any health & safety incidents or near-misses is passed to the LLRA Secretary

Part 3: Arrangements for health and safety

Risk Assessments

  • We will complete relevant risks assessments and take action
  • We will review risk assessments when repeat event conditions change
  • A summary of risk assessments will be reviewed at each LLRA Management committee meeting

Training

  • For activities such as moving and changing the batteries on SID (Speed Indicator Device) we will provide a written user guide and practice for each new volunteer.
