Resolution on Updating the LLRA Constitution (2022)
It is proposed that two new clauses are added to Clause 8 (Conduct of Business)
New d) LLRA is committed to opposing bullying and harassment. Causing alarm or distress to any individual (within or outside the membership) is unacceptable, and any member breaching this condition may be excluded. Exclusion shall be determined by a majority of those present and voting at any Committee or general meeting of the Association.
Examples of bullying and harassment include:
- spreading malicious rumours, or insulting someone by word or behaviour;
- copying memos about someone to others who do not need to know;
- ridiculing or demeaning someone, picking on them or setting them up to fail;
- exclusion or victimisation;
- unfair treatment;
- overbearing supervision or other misuse of power or position;
- unwelcome sexual advances – touching, standing too close, the display of offensive materials, asking for sexual favours, making decisions on the basis of sexual advances being accepted or rejected;
- deliberately undermining a competent volunteer by overloading and constant criticism;
New j) From time-to-time LLRA may receive ‘privileged information’ from third parties, i.e. information that the provider considers to be confidential or otherwise sensitive (eg commercially sensitive). Committee members must not disclose any such information without first gaining explicit permission from the information owner via the Secretary (or other LLRA officers if appropriate).

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE ELECTIONS
Any Long Leys resident who wishes to make a positive contribution to the community is warmly encouraged to stand at the AGM for election to the management committee. Elections are, in normal circumstance, for a three-year term. The committee meets around seven times per year and committee members also devote time to progressing specific initiatives on behalf of the community. It also represents Long Leys residents with several bodies including the city and county councils.
The committee typically consists of 7-9 elected committee members (currently 8), depending on volunteer workload and the number of projects being progressed.
The LLRA constitution requires approximately one third of Committee members to stand down at each AGM. This year two committee members stand down by rotation (Gary Stimson, James Hanrahan) and can stand for re-election.
If you wish to stand, simply download a nomination form from long-leys.org/election, complete it in full and email it back (LLRA@long-leys.org) by latest Tuesday 4 June 2024. A printed copy can also be requested by emailing LLRA@long-leys.org.
