LLRA would like to thank those attending the recent Travel Workshop held at Discovery Cafe at St. George’s Hospital. The workshop forms part of activities helping to develop the Long Leys Neighbourhood Plan. The workshop looked at various aspects of travel, both within Long Leys and to destinations in Lincoln and elsewhere. The main areas explored included:
- Active travel: How walking and cycling routes could be made easier and safer.
- Public Transport: In particular how bus services would need to change to be more useful.
- Cars and road transport: How roads could be made safer to use (and to cross).
Some key themes emerging:
- The challenges of safely accommodating all types of users on Long Leys Road (pedestrians, cyclists, horses, vehicles).
- The importance of the interconnections with other parts of Lincoln, such as the path across West Common to West Parade.
- The desirability of developing specific proposals for bus service improvements, to guide transport planners in Lincolnshire County Council.
The views expressed will be used to inform the plan’s development, alongside the feedback from the 2024 Long Leys Resident Survey.

The next workshop, Habitats and Green Spaces, will be on Wednesday 9 October 6-7.30 pm at Discovery Café, St. Georges Hospital. If you have an interest in this topic and wish to contribute to the effort on it, then please book a place by emailing your contact details to: planning@long-leys.org. This will allow us to send advance information out before the day. All residents are welcome. Please let us know by 2 pm on Wednesday 9 October if you are attending the Habitats and Green Spaces workshop so we can organise accordingly (there is only very limited seating capacity at the Cafe).
