Update On Traffic Management & Parking At St George’s Hospital Site

LLRA have had an update on the parking and traffic management improvements announced for St George’s hospital in December last year.

An additional 29 parking spaces have been added at the hospital and the work to widen access from Long Leys Road was completed in January. There had been a supply problem with the retractable bollards which will be installed on Benbow Way, but the hospital hopes to have the bollards in place shortly. Once installed the bollards will close off vehicle access from Benbow Way to St George’s hospital, making Long Leys Road the main access point to the site and reducing traffic on Carram Way. Initially, the bollards will be fitted in the ‘down’ position, whilst hospital operations ensure that all users of the site are aware of the arrangement. Signage will ask staff and site visitors not to park on the residential estate with signage on both Carram Way and Benbow Way. LLRA are clarifying whether the access arrangements are the same for delivery vehicles and will provide a further update at the LLRA AGM on 22 May.
