LLRA have been given positive news from the Transport Services team at Lincolnshire County Council on the tender process for the St George’s bus service.
Background
The existing operator, PC Coaches, announced it was withdrawing from the contract for the St George’s to Lincoln bus route, effective the end of May 2018. As a result the route was put out to tender.
Current Position
Three tender responses have now been received with at least one bus operator appearing to provide a cost effective solution. Transport Services are in discussion with the operator on the timetable and are looking to firm up the details. Transport Services will have to allow a challenge period as part of the tender process before they can confirm the full details and a new timetable, which they are looking to do as soon as possible.
LLRA will share further information with the community as it is received.
Heard yesterday that Stagecoach has been given the tender and will operate the St Georges bus service on a two hourly schedule with a bus./coach using the route twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Nothing will provided during the school runs.
The route excludes Burton Road and residents will have to find alternative transport to shop there and visiting the post office. West Parade, Hewson Road, and Carholme Road remains on the route. The new time table will be made known shortly..
Nothing is known at the moment about the subsidy amount granted by the Lincolnshire County Council.
The current PC Coaches contract terminates on 31st May 2018.
Details have been sent out to LLRA, WERA, and to local councillors.
The question arising from this – is this correct?
