Update from LCC Highways on Future Road Works

4th July 2023 by longleysra Leave a Comment

LLRA met with officers from the Highways team at Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) this week and received updates on two projects that will impact on Long Leys residents:

  • Carholme Road Closure 2024: The resurfacing of Carholme Road and University bridge originally scheduled for summer 2023 has been delayed until 2024. During this work it is likely that Carholme Road will be closed inbound Lincoln for circa 6 weeks with diversions in place. LLRA will continue to liaise with the Highways team on plans and more details should be available once the contract has been awarded in early 2024.
FURTHER UPDATE: See Preliminary surveys planned ahead of major 2024 Lincoln road improvements
  • Hewson Road Closure: Hewson Road in the West End will be closed for through traffic for most of the period 24 July 2023 to 11 August 2023. This is to allow the installation of a CityFibre high speed network and means the Saxilby via St. George’s 77 bus service into Lincoln using Hewson Road will need to be diverted. LLRA are awaiting information from PC Coaches on any bus route and timetable changes.
    • Once the Hewson Road work is complete, installation will continue on West Parade to the west of Moor Street for circa 7-10 days followed by West Parade east of Moor Street for a similar period. West Parade will remain open for traffic during this time. The work has been scheduled outside of school and college term times to reduce pressure on resident parking spaces. At some times, circa 50-70 parking bays will either be suspended or inaccessible. Further information will be provided to residents affected.

You can keep track of where road works are scheduled by using one.network.
