The good news….
We have been advised by the Streetworks & Permitting team at Lincolnshire County Council that the right turn off Newland onto The Avenue will be re-instated on 22 January 2020. This will provide easier access for drivers heading towards Yarborough Road and Long Leys. When the right turn is re-instated please do take extra care to watch for pedestrians who may have got used to the no right turn over the last 18 months.
The not so good news….
We understand that the developer wishes to re-apply to reclose a lane on Newland and re-instate the no right turn, in order to redevelop the former “Taste of Marrakesh” site, from 22 April 2020 until early in 2021.
As part of the Carholme Community Forum, LLRA will be meeting with the developer and LCC’s Streetworks & Permitting team on 25 February to express the community’s views of this further closure. Please email LLRA@long-leys.org with any comments you wish LLRA to pass on to LCC’s permitting team.
In the meantime, we are awaiting information from the LCC transport team as to when/whether they will re-instate the original route of the 20 Bus Service, given the potential further closure. See https://bustimes.org/services/20-lincoln-waitrose for current bus times in operation.
