Following the success and enthusiasm shown at the spring tidy up on 28 April 2018 which saw some 30 residents turn out despite the wet weather, we’re going to do it all over again to clean up our community for the winter.
Our Autumn Litter pick, to give the Long Leys community a tidy up before winter sets in, will be held 10 am-12 noon on Saturday 3 November 2018. In collaboration with Carholme Councillor Lucinda Preston (who is kindly supplying the equipment) we are again looking for public spirited volunteers from the Long Leys community to clear away rubbish built up on footpaths and hedgerows over the summer, which detracts from the look of the area and impacts on local wildlife. We can provide litter pickers, hi-vis vests, gloves and rubbish bags to those wanting to help. What we need is a small amount of your time and a huge amount of your enthusiasm (and for you to wear robust, non-open toed footwear!) We will again be working with Biffa to ensure that material is properly disposed of from a central collection point.
There are two separate sessions planned:
10am -10:55am: Meet at Higson Steps – bottom of footpath from Manrico Drive to Higson Road
11am – 11:55am: Meet at Whitton Park main entrance on Long Leys Road
Specific Tidy Up areas will be known closer to the day, when we have a better idea of the number of volunteers. If you would like to assist in making our community a litter free and more wildlife-friendly place then please email jon.davies@long-leys.org with your contact details. Please let us know which of the two sessions you will be attending.
Thank you for your help in making our community a nicer place to live, work and play.
