LLRA has been advised that Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) Highway have plans in place for a major resurfacing of Carholme Road in Summer 2023, which will also include improvements to the usability of pedestrian crossings. Plans are yet to be finalised, but early indications are:
- June-August 2023 with work likely to take 6-8 weeks. Resurfacing activity 7am to 7pm.
- Resurfacing of both lanes from the University Bridge junction to the Grandstand.
- Carholme Road to be made one way during the work, with access for outbound Lincoln traffic only.
- Official diversions for inbound Lincoln have yet to be confirmed but Long Leys Road and Tritton Road are likely to be affected by greater traffic flows during these necessary repairs.
In conjunction with Carholme County Councillor Robert Parker, LLRA have requested a meeting with Highways, to allow a greater understanding of the detail of what is proposed. Clarification will be sought on any mitigation measures proposed for Long Leys Road / Yarborough Road which could well see a significant uplift in inbound Lincoln traffic. LLRA will raise its concerns about ensuring safe crossing of Long Leys Road by school children at peak times. LLRA will also seek co-operation from LCC Highways to ensure that the agreed permanent solar powered Speed Indicator Device is in place well before the works commence.
If any resident has a query that they would like LLRA to raise at the meeting with LCC Highways (TBA) then please email LLRA@long-leys.org. Fuller details will be shared when we have them.
