The A46 underpass on Long Leys Road has been targeted by graffiti for some years. LLRA is considering the best approach to solving this problem both short and long-term. To help, LLRA is requesting the views of Long Leys residents on different approaches, using a brief online survey. Whilst there is no guarantee that any particular approach can be implemented, it will guide LLRA on how efforts should be directed. Please help us by completing the survey if you can, ideally as soon as possible. The survey will close at the end of June 2025.

Background

The picture shows some of the current graffiti at the A46 underpass on Long Leys Road, which is owned by National Highways (formerly Highways England). LLRA is seeking to understand which possible solution(s) the Long Leys community would prefer to see to the problem of graffiti there. These include:
- Doing nothing (accepting that it happens there).
- Try and get it removed by the owner (again).
- Ask for it to be painted over (this may just provide a blank canvass for more graffiti so an anti-graffiti paint or coating would need to be used).
- Replace with a proper mural, which has worked in some other areas without being defaced (but would cost a greater sum of money than other solutions).
- Other solutions?
Please note that any potential course of action would be subject to gaining permission from the appropriate authorities / structure owners. Some solutions may require LLRA to apply for grant funding.
