Roadworks on Carholme Road: From 30 June – October 2025

2nd June 2025 by longleysra Leave a Comment

LLRA has received the following communication from Lincolnshire County Council Highways

Following on from major improvements to Newland and a small section of Carholme Road last year, our highways team is returning to the west end of the city to improve the rest of Carholme Road. As part of the four-month scheme, we will be fully rebuilding Carholme Road, in addition to repairing critical sections of damaged kerbs, footways and our highways drainage system while on-site. In conjunction with this project, we will also be rebuilding 80 metres of the Carholme Road approach and 100 metres of the westbound A46 approach to Carholme Roundabout where the high-friction surfacing has started to fail.

Dates and timeframes

Monday 30 June for up to four months

Location of works

Carholme Road, between Nelson Street and just past the golf club

Phasing of the roadworks

  • Phase 1: just past Nelson Street to just past Charlesworth Street
  • Phase 2:  just past Charlesworth Street to just past Roman Wharf
  • Phase 3: just past Roman Wharf to just past Severn Street
  • Phase 4: just past Severn Street to just past the golf club

Traffic management

  • Narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals on weekdays
  • Night-time road closures from 7pm to 6am, weekday evenings (supplemented by weekend working if required, with residents notified accordingly)
    • Advance road closure warning signs will be posted on-site two weeks prior to the start of any of road closures.

Diversion route

Via Carholme Road to the roundabout / A46 eastbound / Riseholme Roundabout / B1126 Riseholme Road / Yarborough Crescent / Yarborough Road / The Avenue, and vice versa

Although we’ll be doing our absolute best to carry these works out as quickly and efficiently as possible, there will inevitably be some disruption while our teams are on-site, but we will do all we can to complete this project as efficiently as possible.
