Xmas Market + Other Events Near Long Leys

2nd December 2017 by longleysra Leave a Comment

Lincoln Xmas Market: Thursday 7 Dec- Sunday 10 Dec

Centred around the Castle area this popular annual event will attract around 250,000 visitors to the city. Watch out for road closures in and around Burton Road. We do get some problems with inconsiderate parking on Long Leys Road – in the event of any traffic/parking problems call: 01522 873400 (manned during market opening times) or email lcmresident@lincoln.gov.uk.

Lincoln West End Lights: Friday 8 December 7-9:30pm

It’s Lincoln’s home-grown night of light when ordinary people do something extraordinary! It started in Lincoln’s West End in 2010 when 9 houses took part. The city was covered in snow and the roads were closed because of thick ice. In the cold winter’s chill a few warm lights shone out as house windows were turned into cinema screens, light sculptures bloomed in front gardens and candles in lanterns flickered much to the surprise of unsuspecting passersby. Since then the event has grown with over 60 locations taking part now. Covering much of the West End, you can start on Hewson Road or West Parade and explore from there or check out the map on lincoln-west-end-lights.com.

Carols On the Green Long Leys Road: Saturday 16 December 6pm

Annual communal singing of traditional Carols interspersed with comments, readings and prayer. Held on a grassy area just in front of 206 Long Leys Road. Mulled wine and Mince pies. For those who haven’t attended before, if you are coming from Lincoln, walk along the east side of Long Leys Road, cross over Carram Way and then look for the Lychgate (wooden structure with tiled roof) and walk through it. The carols will be on the right just by 206 Long Leys Road (See map above). May be helpful to bring a torch to read carol lyrics. Organiser Keith Newsome (contact via LLRA@long-leys.org). All Welcome.
