57 people responded to the recent LLRA survey exploring possible solutions to graffiti on the walls of the A46 underpass on Long Leys Road (near the cemetery).
- 88% of those responding said they wanted some action taken by either removing the graffiti, painting over it, replacing it with a mural or alternative action, e.g. CCTV installed.
- 67% of all respondents said they would prefer a mural (with various themes indicated). 15% said they would prefer the graffiti removed and/or painted over (with plain or anti-graffiti paint).
- Residents also gave further comments/suggestions: on the costs involved, issues with the underpass being further vandalised /sprayed over again, that it is artwork as it stands, who could / should get involved with the design of a mural and CCTV installation.
See pdf with full summary of responses.
Next Steps
- Re-contact the appropriate council to remove/paint over the graffiti.
- Potentially apply for a grant to fund removal/paint over the graffiti (if 1 fails).
- Explore cost-effective opportunities for a mural.
An update will be given at the AGM.
