What is the Neighbourhood Plan?
The Plan represents the culmination of several years of community effort – gathering evidence, surveying residents, and consulting on what we want for our neighbourhood’s future. It presents a clear vision and set of planning policies that will help shape Long Leys into a greener, more connected, and thriving community over the next fifteen years.
The Neighbourhood Plan sets out our community’s aspirations and policies on sustainable development, our environment, housing, and local facilities.
Future Steps Beyond the Consultation
Once the consultation period has finished (8 March 2026) then the feedback will be reviewed and the plan adjusted where appropriate. It will then be submitted to the Local Planning Authority (City of Lincoln Council) for a further review and then inspection by an independent planning inspector (likely Summer 2026). Subject to approval, a local referendum will then determine whether residents accept the plan.
Once the plan is accepted or “made”, it will become part of the statutory ‘development plan’ alongside the Central Lincolnshire Local Plan, meaning that its policies must be taken into account when planning decisions are made.
We believe this plan reflects local needs and priorities while conforming with national and local planning guidance. Above all, it is a plan by the community, for the community, to steer the ongoing development of Long Leys in sustainable and positive directions.
