LLRA Trial of Dial a Ride Transport Service for the Disabled & Elderly

21st November 2020 by longleysra 2 Comments

Following grant funding from Tesco, LLRA is pleased to announce a new arrangement with Lincoln Dial a Ride to provide additional transport for those Long Leys residents that are elderly or have a disability (of any age).

There are two elements to this new trial of the Dial a Ride service:

  • LLRA has taken out annual membership of Dial a Ride, costing £60. This means disabled residents in Long Leys no longer need to take out individual annual membership to access the service. The subscription will expire in October 2022.
  • Update November 2021: Normal Dial a Ride charges for individual journeys will apply to all users.

Depending on the outcome of the trial and use of the service, LLRA may look to fund the annual membership in future years.

About Dial a Ride

The Dial a Ride service provides accessible and affordable transport, with a door to door service. Users of the service can be either elderly or disabled and of any age (including children). It dedicates itself to improving the quality of life and promoting the social inclusion and independence of those individuals that are disadvantaged through age and/or disability.

Dial a Ride minibus

The core Dial a Ride service is available Monday to Saturday 08.30 until 16.15 hrs. Also 18.30 until 21.45 Monday to Friday. Closed on Bank Holidays.

Dial a Ride is not able to take bookings after 15:30 as they will be preparing the schedules to send to the volunteer drivers for the following day

Free Journeys Funded By LLRA

OFFER NOW CLOSED (To qualify for the limited period free offer, you must live in Long Leys and your journey must either start or finish within Long Leys and be no further than 5 miles. Once funds are exhausted, the Dial a Ride Coordinator will be able to advise of charges for journeys).

Our Thanks to Tesco for Grant Funding

LLRA wish to thank Tesco for their kind award of a £500 grant. This has been used to fund various community initiatives within Long Leys, focussed mainly on those most affected by the impact of COVID-19. Details on other grant funded projects will be announced in the future.

Please do pass on the details on the Dial A Ride trial to any of your neighbours in Long Leys who you know do not have access to email or the internet.

Today I phoned the co-op to vote for the funding for the gardens on Yarborough Road. As I am a member.
The lady did not have any record of this. What coop shop is this under.
I have to phone them up with this information so that I can vote.
    Please give me more information.
